About
Donaghy + Dimond Architects was established in 2001 by Marcus Donaghy and Will Dimond, two architects with extensive experience of working on urban and rural design projects in Ireland and abroad. The practice has developed a reputation for high-quality innovative, sustainable design, winning numerous RIAI, AAI and Opus Awards for their completed projects. Their work has been published and exhibited in Ireland, Europe and the USA.

Projects range from new-build through refurbishment / conservation; furniture and landscaping / garden projects, with clients including The Department of Education and Skills; local authorities, universities; arts organisations; charitable bodies; commercial organisations and private domestic commissions.

Marcus Donaghy and Will Dimond lecture in Architecture at UCD and conduct thesis units under the topics of Continuity and Ecology.

Marcus Donaghy
B Arch MRIAI (Conservation Grade III)
Studied Architecture at UCD and graduated 1993.
Membership of MRIAI 1999 with Conservation Grade III Accreditation in 2003.
Worked as an undergraduate with O'Donnel and Tuomey Architects and subsequently in Berlin with Daniel Libeskind Architects
-Irish Pavilion, Asst. project architect (AAI Downes Medal 1992)
Worked with members of Group 91 Architects producing models from inception to planning and design development.
Worked in New York as an architect and a carpenter between 1993 and 1997.
Returned to Ireland 1997 and worked with Paul Keogh Architects.
Acted as project architect on the following:
-House and Swimming Pool, Palmerston Pk.
-Kodak Building, Rathmines (AAI Awards 1997 - highly commended, RIAI Award 1999, Glen Dimplex Award 1999)
Worked also with Shay Cleary Architects on competitions:
-Ballymun Gateway Competition 1999.
-AHGI Headquarters Competition 1999.
Has been a studio tutor in UCD since 1999.
Practiced independently until 2001.
Formed Donaghy and Dimond Architects in 2001 with co-director Will Dimond.

BA in Modern Languages at Bristol University 1980 - 1983.
General building contractor in London 1984 - 1986.
Architectural assistant at Chapman Taylor Partners 1986 - 1988
Studied at South Bank Polytechnic 1987 - 1990
Worked with Richard Reid Architects during 1990 before moving to Dublin
Graduated from UCD 1992 and Membership MRIAI 1994
Associate in O'Donnell and Tuomey Architects (1992 - 2001). Acted as project architect on the following:
-Blackwood Golf Centre, Co. Down. (RIAI Award 1995, RIBA Award 1997)
-Gallery of Photography, Temple Bar (AAI Downes Medal 1997)
-Ranelagh Multidenominational School (RIAI Award 1999, AAI Downes Medal 1999, RIBA Award/Stirling Prize Shortlist 1999, Mies van der Rohe Prize Shortlist 1999)
