25.09.13 Inchicore National School – Open House October 6th


Inchicore National School will be open to the public for Open house on Sunday October 6th from noon. The two phase project involves the refurbishment & addition to a historic 1850′s primary school to adapt it to 21st century requirements. Phase 1 is almost complete ; providing six new classrooms, a general purpose hall, a home-school liaison room and ancillary facilities while at the same time maximizing playground area on a tight site. The new classrooms will have an East aspect into the tree canopy and the GP hall is at street level.

Donaghy & Dimond Architects have recently be appointed to work upon two projects in England; the refurbishment and extension of a family home in Kew, London & the refurbishment of a Grade Two protected farmhouse in Rutland.

17.07.12 Gate Lodge – Site Visit

Some pictures from a recent site visit to the Gate Lodge on a rather damp summers day, where things are beginning to take shape.

The cedar, from the trees felled in clearing the site, is now making its way back as structure, windows and doors from the joinery workshop – only a stones throw up the road.

13.07.12 Susan Cogan, Donaghy & Dimond Architects – Digital Analysis + Energy Retrofit


Susan Cogan recently completed a postgraduate programme in Digital Analysis + Energy Retrofit in D.I.T. The resultant design involved the retrofit of an entire block of Dublin City Council’s social housing to improve its Building Energy Rating (BER) from an “F” to an “A3″ , allowing residents to cut up to 90% off their heating bills!

12.06.12 Nomination – Swiss Architecture Award 2011/12

Donaghy & Dimond Architects are delighted to have been nominated for the BSI Swiss Architecture Award 2011/12.

This is an international architecture prize, promoted by the BSI Architectural Foundation with sponsorship from the Federal Office of Culture in Bern and the Mendrisio Academy of architecture. This prize is aimed at architects, regardless of nationality, “who have contributed significantly to contemporary architectural culture, showing a particular sensitivity to the context of landscape and environment”.
